One part of the eMeter smart grid growth strategy has been to partner with IBM to produce a "smart grid appliance." The San Mateo, CA-based firm is privately held.

Two "firsts" announced today: S&C Electric will install what it says is the first community energy storage system at customers' homes in an AEP Ohio test of the technology.
